14 trillion...

dollars
or pins?
I've been spending my evenings
readying (pinning)
two relatively large
samplers
to foam-core...
Getting them ready for
the framer,
so they are ready to go
when the frames arrive.
(I prefer to do this part myself)

I'm beginning to think
my pin count
is getting right up there
with the U.S. deficit...
{sigh}

Off to buy more pins,
Brenda

Have you posted about how you prepare your work for the framers as I'd be interested to know? Thanks

Me too. Where do you begin? Middle sides? Middle top/bottom? Do you line up a linen thread or use a measure? I used tape when I worked for a framer, and also pins, but everyone has their own method and we might learn a new trick. Can't wait to see the finish.

I've got a few of my own to "pin". Have had the frames for quite a while now, just need to do it! Looking forward to seeing your lovely pictures of the finish!

Wow...now I'm impressed...she designs incredible designs, stitches amazingly, and now does her own framing prep....I've framed a few of my own punch pieces and played with various methods (including pinning) - and it drives me nuts!! Especially the pinning method!! I don't think I'd ever take on doing a cross-stitched piece! I'm curious, though, as to why you prefer to do this part yourself....Lots of inquiring minds out and about this morning it looks like! :o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I'd like to know too! I use double sided tape on the back of my small projects and a professional framer does the large ones.

All this talk about pinning or taping, top, bottom or sides, etc. and I'm still laughing over the number of pins and the U.S. deficit. Thanks sor the chuckle, Brenda. (of course I'm interested to hear all your answers, too)

Like everyone else who has commented, I, too, would love to know your process for pinning. Also, do you then stitch/weave the piece on the back and then remove the pins? That's what I do. I actually love to stretch and pin until the piece is just so. I don't love the sewing part at all!

You're brave to do it yourself, Brenda. I'm afraid I'll do it wrong, and ruin it!!

I would love to have some tips on mounting stitched pieces. I've done small projects, but I have a few larger ones that I would like to do myself, but I don't know where to start. The last piece I had framed was The Red Thread and I was very disappointed...I can see wrinkles where the fabric wasn't pulled tight enough. :(

I too would like to hear how you prepare your work for the framer. I have tackled a few pieces and was wondering if your way turns out better or if it is easier. Please share!!

Thanks

Brenda, Have you ever tried "lacing" your pieces? When I was first introduced to this method, I said not me. Now, I can't frame any other way!

Although, you are keeping the pin industry going;)
